Kulburu

The Village

  Kulburu is a forested village in Kamdara Block of Gumla district in the central Indian province of Jharkhand. Situated at about 100 kilometres south of Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand the village has a predominantly tribal population. Very recently the village got connected with a metalled road network that has made a substantial difference to the villagers for commuting elsewhere. The village received electricity in 2013. Farming and collecting forest produce are the only livelihood options available to the villagers. 

2011 Census

Kulburu's Local Language is Nagpuri and Mundari. Total population is 1461 and number of houses were 279. Female Population was 50.9%. Village literacy rate was 55.0% and the Female Literacy rate was 24.5%.

Migration to cities

  A large number of youngsters have been migrating to cities for searching livelihood. In larger cities of North, West and South India they normally work as healthcare workers, domestic helpers, daily wagers in construction sites and factories. Money remitted by them to their families in the village has brought in some form of properties in the recent past
